Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 7 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Islamic Community Hub, operated by DHATECH SOLUTIONS ("we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to handling your data with care and in accordance with applicable privacy law.
By using Islamic Community Hub you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account data — your full name, email address, phone number, and a securely hashed version of your password when you register.
- Profile updates — changes you make to your name or phone number through the Edit Profile screen.
- Event bookings — the events you register for, your ticket codes, and attendance records.
- Organiser information — if you apply to become an organiser, your organisation name, type, contact email, and description.
- Event content — event titles, descriptions, dates, venues, and other details that organisers submit when creating events.
Information collected automatically:
- Approximate location — with your permission, to show nearby mosques and provide accurate prayer times. We do not store your location history.
- Push notification token — to send you event reminders and community updates (you can disable this in your device settings).
- Device information — device type and operating system, collected to ensure compatibility and improve performance.
- Usage data — features you use within the app, collected in aggregate to help us improve the platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- Generate and display your event tickets and booking history.
- Enable organisers to manage attendee lists and event check-in.
- Send you notifications about events you have registered for (where you have enabled this).
- Process and review organiser applications.
- Respond to your support requests and communications.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Improve and develop the Islamic Community Hub platform.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Your precise GPS coordinates or location history.
- Your contacts, camera, or microphone data (unless you explicitly share a flyer image when creating an event).
- Your financial or payment card details. Payments, if applicable, are processed through the event organiser's own payment system.
- Sensitive personal data such as health information or biometric data.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- With event organisers — when you register for an event, your name and ticket code are shared with the organiser for attendee management and check-in only.
- Service providers — we share data with trusted technology providers under strict data processing agreements, including: SendGrid (email delivery), Expo (push notifications), and OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (mosque location search — no personally identifiable information is shared).
- Legal obligations — we may disclose information where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. The following specific retention periods apply:
| Account data | Until account deletion |
| Booking records | 3 years (for audit purposes) |
| Event data | 1 year after event date |
| Support communications | 2 years |
6. Data Security
- Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes — we never store your plaintext password.
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS encrypted connections.
- Authentication uses short-lived JWT access tokens and secure refresh tokens.
- Tokens are stored in your device's secure local storage, not in plain cookies or logs.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate data through your Profile → Edit Profile screen at any time.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal data. Contact us at support@islamichub.app.
- Portability — request an export of your data in a structured format.
- Objection — object to certain processing, including withdrawal of notification consent through your Notification settings.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@islamichub.app. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Child Rights Act 2003, a child is defined as a person under the age of 18. Islamic Community Hub does not knowingly collect or process personal data from persons under 18 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us at support@islamichub.app.
9. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to external websites (e.g. organiser websites). Islamic Community Hub is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
